Annual Report
The Bennett Health Care Centre held it’s Annual General
Meeting on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 where it received the audited
financial statements for 2009 and elected four new directors,
Linda Bischoff, Don Burt, Tom Bentley and Tom Simmons. Farewell
and sincere thanks were offered to the following directors who
have retired or resigned from the board: Drew Leverette, Chair,
Ken McCormack, Treasurer, Ruth Yates, Secretary and John Parish,
director. Thanks were also expressed to Marg Appleyard for her
continued volunteer support by taking board minutes. Please see

Mock Evacuation
On Tuesday, June 8, 2010, the Centre held a Mock Evacuation
in order to test its emergency policies and to assess staff
response to a potential disaster. In this case, a fire in a
resident room was simulated and a number of residents and
students acting in place of residents were evacuated out of the
building. Sincere thanks go to Christ the King School,
Georgetown, Halton Hills Fire Department and Halton Region
Police and EMS for participating and helping make this
simulation as real as possible. Please see “Bennett in

Accreditation Award
As a result of the January 25-27, 2010 on site survey, CARF
Canada has awarded the Bennett Centre unconditional
accreditation for a 3 year period. The surveyor’s report noted
15 areas where they felt the Bennett excelled making board and
staff extremely proud of this accomplishment. The Centre was
previously accredited by Accreditation Canada in 2006.
